Taekwondo is an ancient Korean Martial Art
of Self-Defence.
"Tae"
means to kick or smash with feet,
"Kwon" means fist or
to punch
"Do" means art or
way.
Taekwondo is much more than kicking and
punching. It is designed as a complete non-violent discipline of
entire body training and character building.
By practicing Taekwondo you will benefit
physically, mentally and philosophically through the
following:
- Fitness Programme
- Our students strive to increase their
cardiovascular endurance.
- Co-ordination Training
- Our students learn to co-ordinate
between their eyes, hands and feet.
- Self Discipline
- This is achieved through the focus of
mind and sight. By repeating the various fundamentals of
Taekwondo, our students improve the performance of each
technique.
- Team Work
- Our students learn to work with
fellow members of the class to develop confident
relationships between senior and junior students.
- Responsibility and Humility.
- Our students take on more
responsibility in terms of looking after juniors and
helping them. At the same time they seek guidance from
seniors and are responsible to them.
- High Achievement
- Our students learn to persevere and
develop a strong tenacity to be responsible for their
actions and to achieve set goals and tasks.
- High Morality
- With acquiring skills that turn his
or her hands into lethal weapons, our students learn to
abide by the Tenets and Oath of Taekwondo. They will
develop a sense of fair play, justice and loyalty to the
ethics of Taekwondo.

Taekwondo is not just a martial art that can
be used for self-defence. It is also a dynamic sport in which all
students are given the opportunity to test their Taekwondo skills
against an opponent in a controlled and organised way.
Not all Taekwondo schools advocate these
methods. These are the ways of the Traditional Taekwondo
Association.
